Onra – Live at Sound Escape 0

Onra gets knee deep in the beats with this live recording from Sound Escape, Denmark.
Featuring a few track from his  Long Distance album which was one of the  musical highlights of 2010.  A distinct blend of wonky RnB that’s had it’s autotune ripped out and enjoyed a long weekend on an IV drip of donkey anaesthetics.  Playlist to follow…

FaltyDL – Hip Love (Jamie XX Remix) 0

The new year is now fully upon us in the UK and of a sudden there are herds of fat people resolving to get fit.  Gym subscriptions soar and shins  splinter as human manitees perspire and splutter around the pavements of the world. It should only last a week so put away your blunderbuss and enjoy this Jamie XX wonk-over  of Falty DL as it swings, staggers and parps it’s way into the new year.

Robyn – Dancehall Queen 0

DIGITAL DANCEHALL – She’s got the haircut of a martian, the voice of a twelve year old was once banned from television for being too hot. After european pop success with Show Me Love , Robyn left BMG to set up her own Konichiwa Records and generally became fucking ace. Robyn deserves a gold medal and some guns for engineering her own shamelessly pop career. I had the good fortune of finding this tune while snooping around Twitter (which I’ve only just got round to playing with). Another killingest concoction of her oh-so-thin vocal, crunked up production and pop tune mastery.

The Beatles – Come Together (A.Skillz Remix) 3

BREAKS BUGGERS THE BEATLES – In an effort to avoid courting controversy (in a social setting at least) I try to keep my disdain for the Beatles under wraps. It’s not that I don’t recognise their talent or ability to write tunes that bury themselves into the public concious like some kind of malignant, musical spyrochete. It’s the entire timbre of that 60s jangly guitar pop scrapes  my shins. The rattling drums, the twanging strings, the swinging fringes – I like precisely none of it.

Maintaining a dislike of the Beatles is tantamount to heartily approving of bankers bonuses or denying the holocaust. But this isn’t a social setting, so up yours Beatles fans.. It’s with middle finger fully extended that I present a bootleg which can only be seen as a complete fucking travesty to the musical heritage of our fair isle.

Big Boi – Shutterbugg (Mochipet Remix) 0

American rappers genuinely miss the irony of misspelling words and taking them on as their Nom De Plume. Perhaps it’s so those fucking retards with bleating phone speakers stand a chance of being able to actually spell it. While you’re there, why not misspell the words you’d find emblazoned across a infants bib? ….from one drooling bed wetter to another.

Glitch maestro Mochipet chews up and spits out Shutterbugg, get the free download here.

Freq Nasty – Boomin’ Back Atcha (ft. Phoebe One) 0

CLASSIC BREAKS ANTHEM – this tune and it’s various remixes were responsible for opening the world of breaks and dance music to a whole generation. To this day Boomin Back Atcha regularly creeps it’s way to the top of my crates and lasers a grin across my chops. This version however never really got an airing in the clubs I was wiggling around in as it was always the 130bpm+ remixes that got played . So it’s a genuine thrill to realise I can start dropping this seminal breaks cut into lower tempo  sets.

Weirdly enough I was once digging through a bunch of sample CD’s and found that synth blip on a BBC “Space and Sci-Fi Sound Effects” recording. This tune is also the only reason I know that the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second.

Dead Prez Vs. An-ten-nae – It’s bigger than Acid Crunk 0

LOW FREQUENCY ANTHEM - It’s THAT bassline. On a Tuesday morning to. The one that vacates the lower intestine and will skid mark the undercrackers of any self respecting music fan.

This tidy little edit from San-Frans An-Ten-Na squelches and stutters the original into his trademark “Acid-Crunk” sound. Straddling US ElectroBass, Hip-Hop and Dubstep the An-Ten-Nae back catalogue is a fine collection of dancefloor artillery and has just unleashed Acid Crunk Volume 3. Should you ever need to make a room full of people shit themselves without the aid of  a weaponised Cholera aerosol might I suggest you explore releases on Muti Music

The full fat .wav of this track is available for the princely sum of absolutely fuck all – jump through the Soundcloud player link to grab it.

I’m off to change my pants.

ACID CRUNK 3 ON BEATPORT

Datasette – Novelty Plastic Skellington 0

LAID BACK CHIPTUNE – once again some dirty little spod has managed to fuck up my afternoon by hacking my wordpress with all sorts of malicious code. I’m pretty sure it’s not personal, all the WP blogs on my host got hit and I’m now having to rebuild the whole thing. So, much apologies for the loss of service I’m going to spend my day off putting this blog back in order. This Datasette release will be the theme tune to my digit fiddling.

Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Siriusmo – “Das Geheimnis” 1

ELECTRO CRUNK – I’ve invented a new genre – see how I blaze trails and set trends?! Just stumbled across this snippet of the forthcoming release on Monkey Town and thought you should probably know about it. Whateever the fuck it is, you need to hear it.

Pixelord – Lucid Freaks 0

8BIT WONK-FEST – If your Sega Master System could sing it would spin out 8-Bit Ballads lamenting its inevitable demise into console redundancy.
Wonderboy wasn’t that good, stop moaning and listen to some Pixelord.
