Byron – All Part of The Magic 0

WATCH THIS UK MC – Once upon a time Byron featured in  a song about about a barbeque that was so skull-fuckingly entertaining that every single person with a mouth should have it force fed into their ear pipes. And indeed that’s what I did my untmost to do .”The Cookout” brought the talents of Byron to the attention of anyone that was near me in the summer of 2010 as I punted an Australian hip-hop release to understandably suspicious friends.

It’s hard to imagine anything quite so repellent as an Australian Hip-Hop outfit however Nine High – Byron’s former group were UK rappers that found their feet on the sandy shores of an Antipodean penal colony and now ,having served his time, Byron is back on UK soil making headway in the UK Hip-Hop scene.   Available for download nnnnooooowwwww……..

Azealia Banks – 212 0

Potty Mouth Female rappers are the best.  Azealia Banks has been charting her path to stardom for the past year following the marvellously smutty “212″ where she deftly raps about gob-jobs.

The radio-edit lyrics are smart enough to pass under the parent-radar so with any luck we’ll be treated to pre-pubescent teens squawking over their phone-speakers “Caught the warm goo in your doo-rag too, son?” amongst other vile Banks dialogue.

Azealia Banks is scheduled for UK daytime airplay very soon- which should be hilarious if you happen to have a child who listens to Radio 1.

Beardyman Ft. Foreign Beggars – Oh! [Benji Boko Remix] 0

Benji Boko throws down a splendid, chugged-out  reworking of Oh! from Beardyman’s “I Done A Album” .  Featuring the vocal talents of London’s  Foreign Beggars who, incidentally, have the perfect voices for a pair of loveable bad guys in a Pixar animation. Perhaps as a pair of car jacking badgers in flat caps.  Maybe even a couple of  money laundering stoats.

Free download through Benji Boko’s Soundcloud.  Also be sure to check out Benji’s nifty remix of Little Dragon while you’re here..

Loudat’s Best Of 2011 1

As the year draws to a close and the apocalypse comes galloping over the horizon it’s a good opportunity to look back all teary eyed at 2011. Here’s the obligatory post summarising the year past with a track selected from every month. This is the best week to go blog dredging – everyone is compiling their “best of” posts so you can find a bunch of decent tunes you may have missed without actually having to read anything. Sweet.

A couple of months back I got my  paws on a Vestax VCI-300 MkII DJ Controller.

Having used Serato Scratch Live for several years I was getting  tired of rewiring DJ booths in the dark to plug up the hardware box. A massive pain in the arse at 2am with a packed dancefloor and a skinfull of a booze

Vestax and Serato had been working on a DJ controller and I was interested in having something that was a simple line-in to the mixer that I could effectively plug and play with really easily.   If you could could scratch with it that would be a bonue. The VCI seemed to be the solution.

This train wreck is recorded and scratched using the aforementioned digtal contraption.

You have been warned.

This mix features a whole bunch of incredible glitch tracks and a couple of Skint Records classics. The production on some of these tracks is phenomenal.  Dave Tipper could very well be in league with Satan.

The Milk – B-Roads (Byron bootleg) 0

ESSENTIAL UK HIP-HOP DOWNLOAD – Championed by the Nextmen and deserving of commercial success the recent “Bootleg” of The Milk’s B-Roads now comes with added Byron from Nine High. The splendidly monikered and equally talented Byron Chadwick featured with Nine High on “The Cookout” one of the bestest, mostest piss-funny bits of UK hip hop you’ll ever hear. An essential download from The Milk soundcloud.

“I swear there’s gunna be a ruck – if I don’t get my fuckin’ aromatic duck”

Luke Mandala – All Together Now 0

NEXT LEVEL GLITCH – HOP –  a stunning chunk of breakbeat from the Addictech stable.  Luke Mandala deftly blends deep bass design and screw-faced funk into a blazing hot production the likes of which deserves to be dropped EVERY FUCKING WHERE.  Holy Shit, just stop what your doing and Get.Into.This.Sound.
The Addictech boys have got something special here. Give that Luke a cookie.

If you’re into this – have a listen to my glitch-hop DJ mix here. This track features on it.

MC Paul Barman – Props 1

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The opening track from his third album “Thought Balloon Mushroom Cloud” .  If cryptic crossword compilers could MC, they would all take notes from this chap.  The more you listen to his lyrics, the smarter they get.  Hidden patterns, acrostics, palindromes and pure comedy.

Here’s a clue

Onra – No Matter What 1

WONK HOP – Purveyor of Parisian wonkiness, Onra drops a little taster of his forthcoming album  Chinoiseries Pt 2. It is a little known fact that Onra has one ear canal 4 ft longer than the other. He exists in a world where he’s constantly having to recorrect acoustic delays in his head hence the lopsided meter -it must be like living inside King Tubby’s monitor cabs.
