NO SKOOL BREAKS  -It’s official. “Breaks” is now a dirty word.

It’s up there with the gutteral Anglo-Saxon “Cunt”.

Evil 9,once signed to Adam Freeland’s pioneering breaks label Marine Parade, punted this track out quoting their latest release as:

“the more ‘broken’ sound (yes, we’re avoiding the term ‘breakbeat’)”

Unfortunately the term “Breaks”  now conjours up images of dancefloors sparsley populated with rotund,bearded men nodding along to the hackneyed  build-up- breakdown formula of dead-in-the-water Nubreaks. ” You wait mate – this year breaks is gonna be massive”

Broken Dreams is perhaps a track title more apt than they realise.

Lets just forgo the niceties and call it Cunt-Beat.

Having Evil 9 back on the release radar can only be very good news for dance music.
