STILL FRESH BREAKS Aaah, breaks. The genre that nearly was. But never quite made it past the sausage party that was every breaks night ever. “Bloke-Beat” as it became known.
Like all dance genres it eventually became a parody of itself and then Dubstep turned up and served breaks its own arse before turning fucking ridiculous itself.
One of the few producers that escaped the sinking ship that was HMS Nubreaks with his reputation fully intact was Will Brunner aka PMT aka False Prophet. A formidable producer with penchant for dubby explorations deep into the breakbeat horizons.
And then ,for reasons hiterto unknown, he just pissed off leaving behind a wake of appalling bootlegs, stinking 64 bar build-ups and plod-step.
Many fullygrown breaks blokes still haven’t recovered from this tragedy.
A real shame.
