Next Hype : Cropper 0

Mere mortals  take it for granted how hard  it is mining the deepest, darkest recesses of the internet searching for musical nuggets.

Slaving away at the IP coalface getting dubstep stuck all under your nails, ropey bootlegs in your hair and nostrils full of “urban” artist bull shit (Yo!- it’s ya boy…..)
The world ,it seems ,is full of cunts and their god awful musical offerings.  #firstworldproblem

Every now and then, though, the glimmer of something precious appears in the alluvial deposits of digital dross and WALLOP all of a sudden you strike it rich. Meet Cropper.

The latest talent to shake loose from the rich seam of the Bristol scene is 22 year old Niall Cropper. A recent graduate of Creative Music Tech he’s hit the ground running with a slew of polished, skillful productions that justify him not studying a “proper” degree.  Cropper’s productions reflect a proficiency beyond many established artists  - who said college was all loose drugs and fast women?

“the course was pretty diverse, involving elements of live sound, recording ,studio practise, composition,  programming, events management, a hefty dose of physics and engineering”

Far more fruitful than a Humanities degree and  endlessly more interesting than an English dissertation Cropper’s Soundcloud candidly offers up his  experimental productions right up to his  latest release, the genre dodging “Deeper” – an isobaric excursion into bass, breaks and 4:4 . A killer track any self respecting DJ would climb over the record shop counter to purloin.

His production abilities spans right across the board from the smart edits on Sage and Maksim’s raw vocals on “Drugs All Day”…..(i bet his mum hasn’t heard this one)

….To the slick, spacious recrafting of Phaeleh’s “Breath In Air” which you can download HERE YAY!

Having moved East to the big smoke of London town Cropper has his trajectory set for the festival season

“I’m half of Therapy Sound System, who has teamed up with Be Ready Records to host our own tent at Secret Garden Party and Shambala. Through my residencies at London’s Trix and Blink, I will be playing on a boat party at Dimensions festival in Croatia and I’m playing the VIP tent at Eastern Electrics festival this summer.”

With further  collaborations with Hype Man Sage on the horizon, remix work rolling in and all the right noises coming from various labels Cropper is one to keep your eyes and ears on.

Cropper’s 4 Track “Broken EP” due to land at the end of the month
